Stupid REALTOR...LOCK THE DOOR!
Friday, 18 September 2009 10:35

Lately I've been getting emails from people all over the Country and some from overseas telling me that they have been following me on Facebook, Twitter and have read my blog. I say GREAT! Then they say, we want more road stories, what happens when you're out there? Ever get in a fight with another REALTOR? We haven't heard any crazy stories lately...give us something damn it! Who knew that people are actually reading this blog, it's very exciting to know that as I type someone out there is looking forward to reading this. Well you're all in luck, here's a story about Wednesday night.

Lately I've been quite busy and have managed to secure a few good listings. With listings come a lot of responsibility, I have to make sure the marketing material is 100% accurate, the property is presentable at all times and the owners (or tenants) are kept informed throughout the entire process. I take this responsibility very seriously, I think that is one of the reasons why I have become so successful in such a short time. I treat everyone like they have a $10 million dollar home, and they love it! Each listing I get refers me to another 2 listings within 2 months.  What I'm trying to say is I take my career very seriously and do my best to make my clients happy. I get so outraged when other Agents don't give a shit about anything but their paycheque at the end of the deal. Here's an example of a scumbag Agent:

I had just listed a new condo on Wednesday afternoon, as soon as it hit the market we had 4 showings booking for that evening, since I've been in school this week learning about appraisal I didn't have time to go to the site and put a lock box, speak to the tenant (it was an investment condo) and get fully prepared. I thought about delaying the showings but decided to just go to the site and let the agents in myself. Fine, 6pm comes and I meet one agent, in and out in 5 minutes, obviously not our Buyers. Next agent 6:30pm, in and out in 10mins, obviously not our Buyer. The last agent was supposed to show up at 7:15, I noticed some people hanging around the lobby, they had arrived at around 10 after 7. It was obvious that they were waiting for their Agent. 7:15...no show...7:30...no show. The people in the lobby were getting impatient and so was I. I have a beautiful wife I couldn't wait to get home to but instead I am stuck in a lobby waiting for this "Agent".

I decide to wait outside and get some fresh air. I notice this car pull in to the driveway with booming base and those ground effects lights, you know the ones that light up under the car for some stupid reason. Anyway, I sat back down thinking there's no way in hell this guy is their Agent. The guy pulls up and illegally parks in a handicap spot, FINALLY turns off the heart pounding base and gets out of the car. UNBELIEVABLE! He's dressed in jean shorts with sandals with a Dallas Cowboys Football jersey. Now remember he's not meeting some teenage clients here, his clients were a middle aged Mom and Dad looking to buy a condo for their nicely dressed 20 something daughter. These people were classy professionals, how in God's name did they meet this guy. I bust my ass trying to meet new clients: I'm always in a suit, always meeting new people, and have been quite successful engaging strangers in Real Estate related conversations...anyway, this guy was a Grade A Douchebag! I'm sorry but what kind of Agent shows up like that?

Back to the point - he walks up to me and says "Hey...you Era?" then I say "No, I'm Ara, are you (let's call him Joseph)?" He confirms that he is actually my wost nightmare of a Realtor and I reluctantly hand over the key to the unit. As he approaches the family it's clear that he is friends with the Daughter, they hug and say Hi. Funnest thing ever is when the guy is hugging the girl, the look on the Fathers face was priceless, I even had my camera with me could not take the pic discretely. It was hilarious. After the hug the guy looks at the parents and shakes their hands. He gave the Mom one of those girlie handshakes, you known when you only grab the fingers? Hey buddy, Women don't like that!!!! Shake her had like a normal human being.

Moving on...they get on to the elevator and go up, they're there for 30mins and they come down. He says they liked it and they would call me tomorrow to discuss. I certainly got a call the next day but it wasn't from the Agent. I get a call from the Tenant and the Owner of the condo. The tenant works nights so he got home at 7am and found the door open and all the lights on. ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME? This scum sucking, degenerate, savage of an Agent did everything you're not supposed to do. He managed to disrespect everyone involved in the showing from the moment he pulled up in his car to the moment he left the condo. Obviously the tenant was quite angry, he canceled all showing for the following day and he had every right never allow showings again. I spoke to him on the phone for over an hour and managed to calm him down. He finally agreed to allow showings again but starting Saturday.

I called the Agent as soon as I found out, and guess what he said? "Oh, uh...I thought I locked it sorry Boss", Boss? I'm not you're Boss! You left the door open and all the lights on and you don't even apologize? I said: What do you have to say for yourself? And then he said would it help if I sent in an offer? I said well I'll be slightly less upset if you sent a valid offer sure. So a few hours pass and sure enough I get an offer. Remember we've only been on the market for one day and we have over 20 showings booked for the next few days. The offer is $50,000 below asking on a $200,000 condo. These condo's are selling within one week for over asking and this is what he calls a serious offer.  I am doubting if this offer even has his client's real signatures on it. I am normally not a whistle blower but this guy needs to find another career. I will be speaking with his manager/broker TODAY and we'll find out if he forged this document. Stay tuned for the update blog.....I would love your feedback either email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or facebook message me.
