Hello Everyone!
I hope you and your family are having an excellent holiday.
With 2010 around the corner, I thought I would take a quick break from my usual condo advice to share some important personal tips on making 2010 the best year ever. This is typically the time when people focus on 'resolutions'. Well, forget resolutions, and think about setting some tangible milestones for yourself. I'd like to share some strategies that have really helped me in the past. First... create a list of 5 goals you plan to achieve in the next 12 months. Make sure to be as specific as possible, and make sure the goal is quantifiable and measurable. For example - don't say "I'm going to lose weight". Instead, say "I am going to lose 15 pounds". Second... write them down on a piece of paper and post it somewhere where you will see it everyday. I'm not exactly sure why, but the act of physically writing down your goals seems to make them more tangible. Third... tell 5 important people in your life about the goals - ask them to keep you accountable on a regular basis. This is truly important and really helps keep you motivated. Fourth... create a 'reward' for each goal. Make sure the reward is something you truly want, and it helps if the reward is somehow related to the goal. For example - using the weight loss example above, the reward could be the purchase of a new pair of jeans to show off the 'new you'. Finally... take things one day at a time. Expect to slip up, and make it part of the plan. Don't beat yourself up, and remember that each new day brings you closer to your goal, and the more you stay consistent the more good habits will form making it easier to achieve your goals. Some great goal-setting topics or categories can include; financial, health, family, work, spiritual, philanthropic, and leisure. Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Ara B. Mamourian Brad J.
